This rare animation drawing features The Prince from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Disney character with the least screen time of all the studio’s princes—appearing for just over two minutes in the entire film. Rendered in black and red pencil and marked 35 T.R. on the lower left, the piece comes from the iconic “kiss” scene around the 1:20:35 mark of the movie. Because The Prince was seen so briefly, original production drawings of him are exceptionally difficult to find, making this artwork an extraordinary collector’s piece from Disney’s groundbreaking 1937 masterpiece.
Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", released in 1937, was the first full-length animated feature in history, marking a monumental achievement for Walt Disney and the whole industry. The film was groundbreaking for its use of Technicolor, intricate hand-drawn animation, and musical storytelling, captivating audiences with songs like "Heigh-Ho" and "Someday My Prince Will Come." Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs paved the way for future animated films and established Disney as a powerhouse in family entertainment, leaving an indelible legacy as a beloved classic that continues to charm generations.
As the first “realistic” male character ever created by Walt Disney Animation, The Prince holds a special place in the history of animation. His design marked a bold artistic step for the studio, demanding a new level of anatomical accuracy and subtlety in movement that was unprecedented at the time. Though he appears on screen for only a few moments, his presence carries immense emotional weight—symbolizing hope, devotion, and the triumph of love that awakens Snow White from her enchanted sleep. This rarity makes original drawings of The Prince especially coveted, as they embody both the technical ambition and romantic spirit that defined Disney’s very first feature-length masterpiece. Owning such a piece is not merely acquiring artwork—it is preserving a cornerstone of animation history.
