We present a wonderful production drawing of Mickey Mouse in his early form: a surprised Mickey from the 1932 short film Mickey's Nightmare, where the beloved mouse dreams of marrying his adored Minnie Mouse. This original animation drawing appears at the 2:19 mark of the short. In addition to the dynamic figure of Mickey, drawn in pencil, the piece features the signature of his animator, Gilles "Frenchy" de Trémaudan, as well as several production notes in the upper right corner and on the main drawing itself. The artwork is marked with the number 62 in the lower right corner..

This artwork is attributed to and signed by Gilles "Frenchy" de Trémaudan, one of the most prolific illustrators of Mickey Mouse, to whom we likely owe much of the mouse's success as a pop culture icon. In addition to drawing Mickey in dozens of shorts, "Frenchy" is also the author of the book My Life at the Walt Disney Studios, a glimpse at life inside, and beyond, the walls of the Walt Disney Studio during its golden age..

Directed by Burt Gillet, the main director of The Mickey Mouse Series, "Mickey's Nightmare" tells the story of Mickey's dream of marrying his beloved Minnie Mouse, only for it to turn into a nightmare when they have 21 children. The story is a remake of the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit short "Poor Papa" and was the first short film to be released and distributed by United Artists.

With Frenchy’s signature and production notes, this artwork not only represents the early charm of Mickey but also highlights the craftsmanship of one of the artists behind his rise to global stardom. A rare and highly collectible piece, it’s a must-have for any serious Disney or animation enthusiast. Don’t miss your chance to bring this iconic masterpiece into your collection!
