Here we have one of the few and best drawings of Pinocchio: a full figure of the puppet still with donkey ears. This original animation drawing can be seen around the 1:09:36 mark of the 1940 film "Pinocchio", the first animation feature to win an Oscar Academy Awards. Pinocchio is drawn on black colored pencil and some red colored pencil marks, and the piece includes some animation and color hand notes. The artwork is noted 18 on the lower right side, denoting its place within the sequence.
"Pinocchio" is the second film included in the Disney Animation Canon. It was a groundbreaking achievement in animation effects. Unlike character animators who focus on character performance, effects animators create everything else that moves, including vehicles, natural elements like rain and water, and fantastical effects like fairy dust. The song "When you wish upon a star" was the first song from an animated film to win an Academy Award, and to this day, it serves as Disney's signature tune at the beginning of their movies.
