This original animation drawing can be seen at minute 4:16 of the short film "Mickey’s Rival" on online views. Here we can see Mickey really upset as his lover is flirting with her old friend Mortimer. Underneath Mickey’s drawing we can see a production mark on red pencil for the shade. The artwork is numbered D8 84 on the lower right side.

Directed by Disney Legend Wilfred Jackson, infamous for directing films such as "Peter Pan" or "Alice in Wonderland", this short film was released on June 20th 1936. This feature is about a picnic organized by Mickey for his girlfriend Minnie, suddenly interrupted by Mortimer, a Minnie old friend that during the story becomes "Mickey’s Rival". The voices are played by Walt Disney (Mickey Mouse) and Marcellite Garner, who was the first and original voice for Minnie Mouse.

This feature is the first appearance ever of Mortimer, an arrogant mouse that tries to steal the heart of Minnie Mouse. Mortimer's name is not a coincidence: when creating Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney wanted to call him Mortimer, but Lilly, his wife, told him she did not like that name and suggested him to call the mouse Mickey. Now, Mickey’s Rival is named after Walt’s original idea for the studio icon!

A real fan of Mickey Mouse or anyone who wants to own a piece of History of Animation, should have this artwork at home. Mickey’s expression is so upset as it is the first time ever that his relationship with Minnie Mouse is threatened. A lovely original drawing you can purchase right away!
