This original animation drawing can be seen at mark 6:18 of the short film "Donald and Pluto" on online views. Here we can see Donald in his new design fighting against the magnetic field of the hammer with his best angry face. Apart from the main drawing, the artwork presents a character test numbered 146 upside down. The drawing is rendered on black and green colored pencile and the artwork is numbered EG 146 on the lower right side.
"Donald and Pluto" is one of a kind short film. Directed by Ben Sharpsteen, was part of "The Mickey Mouse Series", and considered the pilot episode for forthcoming "The Donald Duck Series", as Mickey Mouse never appears in the film. The plot is as easy as effective: Donald is a plumber in a basement and Pluto is trying to have his lunch upstairs. When the dog accidentally swallows a magnet, the action is served.
This film introduces Fred Spencer’s new design for Donald Duck which included a slimmer body, shorter neck, rounder feet and a shorter bill. But this is not the only fact that makes "Donald and Pluto" a historical landmark: it features the first Pluto appearance in a short film without Mickey, and also the first Donald Duck short film as main character, and without Mickey Mouse on his side.
